Difference between Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel for Electric Heater Shell Material

The shell material of electric heaters is mainly carbon steel and stainless steel. Now our company will introduce the difference between carbon steel and stainless steel.

     Carbon steel is steel that contains carbon but no other alloying elements intentionally added. Of course, carbon content is controlled to a certain extent, and its hardness is greater than that of pure iron. It generally does not have any corrosion resistance. 

     Galvanized steel is steel coated with a layer of zinc on the surface, such as iron buckets used at home, to resist corrosion. The corrosion mechanism is that when corrosion occurs, electrochemical corrosion of the zinc layer on the surface occurs first, thereby protecting the iron base. 

     Stainless steel refers to alloy steel with a chromium content of at least 13%, which is stainless in the atmosphere. There are many types of stainless steel, such as ferritic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, etc. Different stainless steels have different corrosion resistance capabilities and different resistance to different media. 

    The three can be distinguished. Carbon steel is not discussed here? You can tell by looking: the surface of galvanized steel is zinc, not iron, and it is white; stainless steel is also white. 

    They also differ in magnetic properties. Carbon steel and galvanized steel are not much different. Stainless steel generally does not have magnetism, but it is not absolute. Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic, but ferritic stainless steel has magnetism, though relatively weak.
