Electric Heater Power Calculation Method

Electric Heater Power Calculation Method

1. Generally, the design calculation of the electric heater is carried out in the following three steps:Electric Heater Design Calculation:

1.Calculate the actual power required to maintain the medium temperature unchanged.

2.Calculate the power required to heat from the initial temperature to the set temperature within a specified time.

3.Based on the above two calculation results, select the model and quantity of the heater. The total power takes the maximum of the two powers and considers a factor of 1.2.

Formula:

1.Power required to maintain medium temperature

KW=C2M3T/864+P

Where: M3 is the medium added per hour in kg/h

2.Power required for initial heating

KW = ( C1M1T + C2M2T )÷ 864/P + P/2

Where: C1C2 are the specific heats of the container and medium respectively (Kcal/Kg℃)

M1M2 are the masses of the container and medium respectively (Kg)

T is the difference between the required temperature and the initial temperature (℃)

H is the time required to heat from the initial temperature to the set temperature (h)

P is the heat dissipation of the container at the final temperature (Kw)

2. Electric Heating Performance Curves Below are some performance curves frequently used in electric heating calculations.
