Cast Iron Heater / Cast Iron Electric Heater Temperature Control
Generally, a thermocouple is used as the temperature measuring element, and a millivoltmeter is used as the temperature control device to command the on/off of the current of the barrel and mold heating rings, selectively fixing the temperature of each section of the barrel and the mold temperature. Table 5 lists the molding temperature ranges of some plastics for reference.
The barrel heating rings are generally divided into two, three or four sections for control. The ammeters on the electrical cabinet respectively display the current of each section. The ammeter readings are relatively fixed. If the ammeter reading is found to be low for a long time during operation, it may be due to a fault in the heating ring, poor wire contact, oxidation and thinning of the heating wire, or burnout of a heating ring. These will increase the resistance of the parallel circuit and cause the current to drop.
When the ammeter has a certain reading, you can also simply use a plastic strip to wipe on the outer wall of each heating ring to see if the plastic strip melts to determine whether a heating ring is energized or burned out.
